Is Gulf gasoline a good gas to use in my 2010 Ford Focus, or would you recommend a different brand?

I wish to keep my new car running at peak performance, and good reliability. Is there better or worse gasoline brands for my new 2010 Ford Focus. It needs 87 octaine.|||Gasoline is a commodity, like 2% milk, enriched flour, pine 2x4's, staples... The government defines how these items are made, gasoline has different formulas for winter, summer, and 20 other factors. I have heard some people swear for or against certain brands. My experience is that occasionally a certain individual gas station might not take proper precautions to protect their tanks from water or contamination. And I have gotten some "bad gas", but it has happened like twice in my life. Usually a bottle of 'heat', or something to rid your system of moisture, helps. And a dirty little secret..sometimes several different brands will buy from the same supplier. Go buy the cheapest gas you can find, and the lowest octane, your ford focus will be totally happy, it does not care what you pay.|||Gas is gas, buy the cheapest you can find.

Can i swap out a manual headlights control in a 1997 ford taurus gl to an autolamp control?

I have a 1997 ford taurus gl that has the manual headlight control (when you have to turn the lights on manually) and i noticed some models have autolamp. Is there a possibility you can swap out a manual headlight control to an autolamp one? If you can does it require extra wiring? Thanks for your answers.|||It would require a dash harness, as there is a light sensor involved in the circuit as well. But there are Ford kits, as well as aftermarket kits, to do this much more easily and cheaply.

The Ford kit takes about 20 minutes to install, and works well.|||Yes you can It might take a little time , You will have to replace the switch and maybe the harness and the eye censer that goes on dash , hope this helps.

Why has the paint come off my Ford badge?

I have a Ford Ka, and I recently noticed that the blue paint had come off the Ford logo badge on the boot, with a little bit of a trace left. It literally seemed to happen overnight! Does anyone know how it could have happened?

And does anyone know how I can get it fixed? Do I have to buy a new badge or can it be re-sprayed? How much will it cost?

Thanks.|||Not to sure about the new ford cars, but in the past the back of the badge was painted blue. Some times the paint can peel off resulting in it looking very tatty.

You have two options:- Buy a new badge from ford (拢10), or re-paint the badge your self. One advantage of re-painting the badge is that you don't have to paint it the same blue colour. You could for example paint it the same colour as your car.

You will need to remove the badge from the car, my advice is to try and twist the badge, do this clockwise then counter clockwise. Eventually the glue behind the badge will brake and the badge can be removed. Clean off the old paint 600 grade wet and dry on a flat surface, then paint it with some paint from halfords etc.

Ja.|||The badge is not"painted". It is separating internally %26amp; will need to be replaced.

What is the release date of the Ford Fiesta in North America?

I've been looking around for the release date for the Ford Fiesta in the US and Canada. All I can find is they are using a "2011" model designation, but claim arrival in "early 2010". I've driven this Fiesta model in Europe and it's incredible to drive, cheap to run and the European ones were decent quality. If Ford can get one out in time then I'm buying one!|||Early 2010. Thats all they're saying.

What would cause the passenger power sliding door on my 2001 ford windstar limited to stop working?

We have a 2001 Ford Windstar limited. The power sliding door on the passengers side stopped working by key fob, button, and power assist when opening with the handle. This is only a problem with the door on one side. It will open a little everynow and then when using the buttons up front or the buttons for the passenger. It gets about 6 inches open and stops. It also doesn't even sound like it's trying.

Any thoughts?|||Sounds like either the power motor is bad/going bad, or possibly has a short in the door motor's harness... Not really a big deal, get it looked at... won't be too expensive.

How do I find mileage estimates for Ford Super Duty Trucks?

How do I find mileage estimates for Ford Super Duty Trucks? Since they aren't tested by the EPA, they don't seem to be published anywhere. Is Ford saying they don't care about the mileage on their heavier trucks?|||They are not regulated and don't count against the fleet average if over 6,000 lbs. So they don't publish the results. I'm sure you can find some real world numbers online or asking people who have one.|||None of the manufacturers are required to publish mpg for trucks of that weight. Ford focuses quite a bit on fuel economy with a lot of resources focused on direct injection turbo motors and hydrogen fuel cell.

On average, the new 6.4L Power Stroke Diesel gets about 12mpg - that's empty, no payload, no trailer and you're not driving it like a maniac.|||No Ford doesn't give a damn. I know, it stinks, huh. They should be required to publish mileages. I just bought an F250 2WD with a standard cab and 5.4L gas engine and it gets only about 13 MPG with very conservative highway driving. If I knew the MPG was going to be that bad, I would have spent the extra bucks for a 22+ MPG Dodge Sprinter van.

Where is the fuel pump reset button located on a 1994 Ford Thunderbird?

I have a '94 Ford Thunderbird and key remote seems to set off the alarm occasionally and the car won't start. It was suggested that I press the fuel reset button which should be located in the trunk on the left side. I notice an apparatus there but there does not appear to be a (red) button to depress. Is there a reset button on this type of car?|||The fuel cut-off switch is an inertia switch. The only way it would need to be reset is if the car was hit hard enough to trip it. Your problem would more than likely be with your anti-theft system.|||ford used to put the reset switch in the trunk, mounted to one of the wheel wells behind the carpeting, not sure if thats where it is on the t bird or not.|||Yes..like the trunk as you mentioned..but they are also put behind the ''kick panel'' near the front passenger floorboard. The actual switch may not be red...but cycle the switch a time or two..(it's a circuit breaker) and put it in the same position you found it.

Unless the switch is faulty, your car should run.

Is there an effective way to refit or convert a 2002 Ford Explorer for better mileage & lower gas consumption?

I have a 2002 Ford Explorer %26amp; a 1986 Mustang. They get about the same, pitiful mileage of about 14mpg. I can't afford a new car/hybrid. Is there anyway to get better mileage out of either other than the basics...tire inflation, oil %26amp; filter replacements, etc. And...unfortunately, a bicycle won't take me where I need to go. Are hydrogen or water conversion kits really effective %26amp; would either work for me? Thanks for any suggestions.|||14 in a 2002 Explorer? Must be a lot of city driving.

Step one would be a new fuel filter, air filter, and spark plug change if not done within last 30,000 miles or so and oil in last 5,000 miles as most neglect this and eats the fuel mileage hard.

make sure air pressure is at 35psi and be easy on the gas is about the only real proven fuel economy answers.

The water conversions still have the jury out on them.. some swear by them, some say it doesn't work as claimed for the money spent to buy and install the system (as the water has to be metered just so or you can explode a engine)

And what I read is from certified techs... not the people selling these systems on the side|||no, you would have to redo the whole car. new tranny, gearing. It wouldn't be cost effective. All you can do it dont drive fast and keep the car running good.|||It is a lot of money to replace all the parts you would need to in order to convert either of your vehicles. Which is not very cost effective, if you're going to spend that much converting, you would be better off buying a cheap little rust-bucket just to get you around with high MPG's for a couple hundred bucks!

Another thing you can do is maximize your current MPG's

How much for a ford taurus 2000 transmission?

i was wondering how much it cost to put a new transmission in a ford taurus se 2000 .

plus manufactory.|||This is a trouble-prone transmission, so if you plan to keep the car, a junkyard replacment isn't the best idea.

The Genuine Ford rebuilts are the best and offer the best warranty 3yrs/36K miles. But they're also the most expensive--retail price around $2,200 PLUS installation.

Your best bet is to find a reputable local transmission shop--not one of those chain rebuilders. Look to see if they are a member of ATRA (Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association). If they give you an ATRA warranty, it will be honored by any other member shop. These guys tend to know transmissions better than the chain operations.

The chains just buy rebuilts from their franchiser. The techs usually don't get into them to find out what's wrong. They just remove and replace.

What is the real situation about the Ford Motor Company?

Many articles in mass media describe the situation in the Ford Motor Company as very positive. Ford is developing very fast, sales are growing, and the reputation is on a high level. Do you think this situation is really so or it鈥檚 only mass media picture for customers?

Thanks!|||I think you are mistaken heakel. It was GM who took government loans, and it is GM who is paying its loan payments with its US Government escrow balance.

http://www.forbes.com/2010/04/23/general鈥?/a>

The real situation about Ford is basically what you described.

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/ford-po鈥?/a>

As the article states, the selling of Volvo is a main reason Ford is seeing a much larger net income. However, the facts also state much increased sales performance globally, and reduced operations costs. Their vehicles are also receiving higher quality scores.|||apparently Haeckel can't read. That would be GM that said they paid back the loan. It is kind of misleading as they moved money around. Ford never took any government money. That is part of the success they have. They also sold off some parts and are making cars again. They really are doing that good. No media playing here.|||Yes, Ford is looking very good right now, but they cannot let that success go to their heads or they will be back where they were only a few years ago. On another note what the first answerer said is very misleading, GM paid back their loan with money that was given to them by the government, but the government never asked them for repayment of that money. If you were given free money wouldn't you use it? I know I would! Ford has actually received plenty of government cash, but it was not asked of them to repay it. Toyota, Honda, GM they all get plenty of government help on a yearly basis but are not asked to repay it.|||I think Haeckel is confusing Ford w/ GM

(speaking of not getting your facts straight first)

Ford's situation is actually a better than it's competition. Since they never took a loan they don't have to worry about paying anything back. Their sales are up compared to their competition. And they're all set to introduce new models like the Fiesta, the new Focus, and the 2011 Mustang 5.0. So things can only get better for Ford|||The media has a good way of believing what they are told without actually verifying all facts. Ford says it has paid back it's US loans, but in fact they have only paid off a years worth, and the money used to pay off that loan was escrow money. To make matters worse the escrow money was actually US government money!

How much does it cost to replace piston rings on a Ford Focus?

Hello there,

How much does it cost to have piston rings replaced on a Ford Focus? Would it be cheaper to buy the rings myself (if this is possible) and just pay for labour or is it best just to let the garage to do their work?|||Why would you just want to replace the piston rings? By the time the piston rings are worn out the bearings, valves and camshaft are also ready to be replaced or rebuilt. |||I assume you're talking about air-bags for suspensions? You can check out Air-Ride Technologies.

http://www.ridetech.com/

If you're talking about safety air-bags, can't help you there. I don't think its possible.|||The previous poster is correct. You're looking at least $2000 just for the system. Then probably over $100 an hour for a technician who has the know how to install a custom engineering feat such as this. So I think $8,000 is probably on the low side. When manufacturers design airbag systems on new cars that are designed to handle airbags, they spend hundreds of thousands of dollars. You're looking at a extremely financially infeasable situation to stick airbags on an old mustang. You could put in a safety cage, and a harness for under $10K if you're that worried.|||It would cost upwards of $8000. You're not just buying and installing airbags. You have to replace the steering wheel and dashboard, plus have the sensors installed on the bumpers. Honestly, it's not worth it. Wear a seatbelt.|||I believe you are asking about air-ride susp. maybe 3k.|||you mean safety airbags or airbags suspension???????|||There are no companies that make such a thing as retrofitted airbags. These safety systems are designed WITH the vehicle, not as an add-on. The sensors (plural), the wire harnesses, the crumple zones, the unibody construction, the airbags themselves and the spiral cable in the steering column are all designed by each manufacturer for each vehicle, and each vehicle is different than another.

Unless you are a master engineer, with a crash test facility to test your multiple installations for proper firing procedures (that means you have to crash about 10 or 12 mustangs with them installed and set differently to see which setting and adjustment is safer), you can't do it.

Sorry, I got on a rant there. Lot's of people would like to retrofit them, but they are too highly critical a system to be able to do like that. Cool choice of car though|||at least $250

I have a 2001 Ford focus and my key is stuck in the ignition?

I have a 2001 ford focus and yesterday i went to start my car and the key wouldnt go in the ignition to start it, finally i got the key in and got it started. Now when i shut the car off the key is completely stuck in the ignition and wont budge no matter how much i try. Does anyone know any tips on how i can get the key out or why it is stuck?|||Actually, the best advice for your situation is to NOT remove the key from the ignition, if you can still start your car or shut it off. If you need to leave your car unattended, leave the key in the ignition with the door locked, and use your spare key. BUT, drive it straight to your nearest Ford dealer at your earliest convience and ask for part number SW-6285 to be keyed to match your key, and installed . This is the updated style lock cylinder that is used on 2005 to current model year Focuses. By taking my advice, your labour charge to replace the lock cylinder will be around $100.00, instead of $300.00 plus towing if you manage to remove the key, and end up unable to restart your vehicle. This is an extremely common issue with Focuses from model years 2000 to 2004. What brand Fuel does FORD require to be used in a 05 Mustang?

On many occasions the fuel gauge does not operate. Too to the dealer and they replaced the sending unit. All work fine for 6 months that problem returned.

Dealer informed problem was caused by cheap gas and not covered under warranty. I used ARCO.

This is the last Ford I will ever own.|||According to this article on Ford's website, Ford recommend BP. Still, I would try to escalate their decision not to cover this under warranty claiming cheap gas. That to me sounds like a crock. Ford may recommend the use of BP, but may not base coverage of warranty issues on that recommendation.

http://media.ford.com/newsroom/feature_d鈥?/a>|||If you always buy from the same station and have the receipts to prove it. Then you can charge the repair costs to the station. Also try buying gas at another station.|||I would have that same dealer show in writing which gas Ford recommends.

HINT: Manufacturers may recommend an octane rating, but NO manufacturer recommends a brand of fuel as their cars are required to run on ANY make of fuel.|||What does the owners manual say. It should recommend an octane rating. As far as where you get it,that's up to you.Try another Ford dealer if you can. No comment on buying a Ford.|||it may be a relay or oxygen sensor, if you use cheap gas

the oxygen air ratio doesnt mix right. run 93 run thru it once a month or use the cheap gas with gas line antifreeze every full tank.

the sending unit, how much of a waranty did you get?|||Sounds like a bullshit excuse to not warranty a faulty part! Gasoline MUST meet minimum standards to be sold. I'd tell that dealer to go screw himself. Dealerships make big bucks selling excuses like that to people like YOU who don't know the difference.

MAKE THEM SHOW YOU THE FINDINGS IN WRITING!!|||there's no way in hell that cheap gas or any gas will effect the operation of the fuel Gage !!!!!! they are feeding you a bunch of s--t . its a wiring or Gage or sending unit on the fuel pump causing the problem . check the owners manual for the octane rating . our 05 with the 4.0 engine says 87 is just fine.take your stang to another dealer ship !!!! i don't know where you live but there has to be more than one. GOOD LUCK !!!!|||ARCO is cheap gasoline, Why do you think its always cheaper in price than any other brand out there. Theres is a TSB that is out for the Explorer (I know you have a Mustang) that has a similar problem that you are having with your car, With the sending unit not reading correctly. It is possible that you using cheap gas is having your sending unit build up with sulfer and not allowing your sending unit function correctly. Fill up with Chevron and buy a bottle or two of "Chevron Techron additive" Its supposed to clean off all that sulfer. You can purchase it at any Chevron gas station, NAPA, or Autozone.... Yes Ford does recomend this additive for its TBS on the Explorer.|||Yep buy a GM... then you can pay to have the sender changed there also too... Actually a lot of them makes are having issues with this.

What it is, is some lower grade brands of gas has too much sulfur and other additives that leads to conductance (read makes a circuit) and causes the issues described.

Ford recommends running a cleaner thru the gas system and changing brands of gas (we usually recommend another name brand).. but it actually depends on the refinery it comes from as my area got hit with sender issues a few years ago due to the refiner using a oil that had too high of a sulphur content in it), and on most fords it was taken care of after a few tanks of gas, Chevys had to replace the sender as it actually ate the contacts up

Ford can't demand a brand, only octane. It has a advertising deal with BP to recommend BP gas. that's it|||There could be a short in the wiring going to the sending unit causing it to fail after time. No way the gas is doing it. I had a 05 stang that kept draining the battery, just whenever. After 10 trips to the dealer ,they finally found a short in a wire going to the sub woofer. I had complained about the stereo many times before, not sounding good . They told me i was nuts. Ford had to buy it back,, %26amp; i got 4 grand. See a lawyer. Helped me. Good Luck|||You need to take it back to the dealer and have it repaired again! I strongly doubt it has anything to do with the brand of fuel. More likely it is a short in the wiring harness. The shop needs to trace it down. This might still be covered under factory warranty depending on when the car was originally purchased. No, you don't have to be the original owner for it to be covered. Don't knock all ponies because of one problem! nor all Fords. Every car, every machine has problems and requires maintenance.|||someone is blowing smoke , ford only requires a certain octane level, unless your gas station has contamination problems with their gas , ask the dealer to tell you what caused the failure|||That is total BS. I'd sue the dealer for the cost of the repairs that were not covered under warranty. All gas needs to meet certain requirements in order to be sold. The difference between cheap gas and the highly touted "Top Tier" gas is next to nothing, furthermore Ford isn't even one of the automakers that recommends Top Tier gas. With the exception of the GT500 and Shelby GT, the Mustang only requires 87 octane. The dealer is either incompetent or a crook. Call a lawyer.|||This is another example of the low quality workmanship that the Amercian public has come to know and enjoy over the past couple decades from our in house manufacturers. First of all that is just a scam. All fuel should work in their cars. Second of all even if that was the case Ford should be ashamed that their vehicles can not process all types of fuel sold in the U.S.

When I say this I know that Mazda is partially owned by Ford however Ford neither owns or manufactures Mazda cars made in Japan. I drive and love my '07 Mazda 3. If you are looking for a muscle car look at the RX8 or the Honda S2000.

Ten grand will get you started, depending on what heads you want, but it's not enough for a working engine. How about this: You can stroke a Ford aluminum Windsor block to 427 for a lot less $$. I have an iron 351W stroked to 427 in my '89 Mustang, putting-out about 550 hp with factory Ford fuel injection %26amp; she runs all day on pump gas. What is needed in registering a 29 ford hot rod from nevada to california?

Going to buy a 29 Ford Model A hot-rod. Aftermarket frame ( unknown year ) Original body, 1980 Ford 302 Motor. Registered in Nevada with special plates that say "Street Rod" and the plate only has 4 numbers. I live in california and want to know if I will have to smog this car. I know 1975 and older are exempt but is the motor year a problem? Is the special plates going to throw a red flag?

Please add references if available|||The Nevada plates stay with the current owner. You will have to get new plates for California.

The seller should have a valid Nevada title for the complete vehicle, and it will depend on how the title reads as to what the smog testing requirements are when you transfer to CA. Since it's a custom-built vehicle, I'm sure there will need to be some sort of inspection before you can get the title transfered, but I'm not sure how it's done in CA. Most of my vehicle purchases and title transfers have been in the other direction, from CA to NV.

Probably wouldn't hurt to talk to someone at your friendly local California DMV office before you go through with this deal.|||This is a preexisting automobile, and as such will have a title. It depends on how the registration was worked, and who at the California DMV you talk to.

There is a good chance that it will be exempt it it is registered as a 29 Ford, but if there is a build date this might complicate the issue.

Once you have the title in hand, you should take it in for registration and get the right answer at from a state employee.|||Depends on how you register it.

If you're going to register it as a street rod, or an antique, or other special plate type, you very well could be exempt from smog.

But if you're putting regular tags on it, you won't be exempt.

How do you tell if your Ford Edge has Sirius capabilities?

My husband and I just bought a new 2008 Ford Edge. It has the auxilary button and iPod hookup but I was wondering how you tell if it's Sirius ready? Does anyone know what buttons to press to get the phone number? Do you have to have SYNC in order to have sirius in the 2008 Ford Edge??? How would I replace a starter solenoid in a 1994 Ford Escort LX and where is it located?

My 1994 Ford Escort wont start. The battery is fine so I've been advised to check the starter, the solenoid or the ignition relay but I have no clue as to where to find the solenoid or the ignition relay. The car makes a very faint click sound when I turn the key but no other sound and just one click per turn.|||Before you go off the deep end and replace a bunch of parts needlessly, try this. Disconnect both battery cables, negative cable first. Use a wire brush (parts stores have them made special for posts and cable connectors) and clean the posts and the inside of the cable connector so they are bright and shiny. Even though they look clean the battery posts and cables will, many times, build up with an oxide coating which will prevent the transfer of full voltage and keep the starter from turning or make it turn real slow. The only way to remove the oxide is with a wire brush or scraping with a knife blade. If it still won;t crank, check the connections at the other end of the battery cables. Sometimes they get corroded and cause the same problem. This is the most common cause of not, or hard starting, when the battery is good.|||Is it a "clink" like metal hitting or is just "click"? It may sound silly but there is a huge difference. To find the starter, locate your (+) positive cable on your battery and follow that cable down to the engine. The starter should look like a cylinder with a smaller cylinder attached to it. That smaller cylinder is the solenoid. Also check to see when you try to start the car does the "clicking noise" come from that area. So let me know and I'll check back later. Best Of Luck!|||Starter solenoid can be found by tracing the LARGE POWER cables from the battery. 1, USUALLY -ve, will go to the chassis (Earth), and the other will go to the starter solenoid, and then to the starter motor. Starter motors are easy to repair, requiring only a few tools and some good soldering skills. $AUS10-- will often fix them for many years. If it's an ENGAGEMENT type starter motor, the solenoid will be on the side of it, if it's a BENDIX type-it can be anywhere convenient but close to battery and starter motor. Bendix starters disengage immediately the engine fires, and you have to wait for them to stop spinning before 2nd + attempts to start. You will ALWAYS need a well charged battery, large enough to spin the engine easily, with thick cables in good condition and clean terminals everywhere. If it won't crank well, test for hot connections after a 5-10 second attempt-great heat usually means bad connections. Watch for corrosion and worn thin cables at terminal lugs.|||after you double check the battery like they said go buy your self a book so you will know what you are lookinmg for and what its takes to do the job its not a hard job like most car problems can be fixed at home or on the road side with basic tools get a book it will help you greatly|||How do you know the battery is fine. Have you had it tested or are you going on the assumption that the lights are working so the battery must be ok.?? NEVER replace any part till you know the problem. The battery must have 13.5 volts across the terminals to be ok. I don't know if you have a voltmeter on your dash but if so it must read at least 13 volts with key on. If not get a multimeter and test it or the auto supply will do it if you can get it there. Have you tried a jump start? Have you cleaned the battery terminals and posts ? Your mileage would suffer too.|||It just seems amazing because the van is fairly light compared to a full size van or truck.|||no|||Possible yes. At all practical or worth trying, no.

I have a Ford Expedition with the tow package how can reprogram the engine for better gas mileage?

2005 Ford Expedition with tow package, not looking to tow anything. Need to save gas.|||Often a tow package includes a different gear ratio at the axle and that may have a negative effect on gas mileage. The only way to fix this is to have the axle rebuilt or completely replaced. Sometimes programmers will have a mode for better mileage as well. Both of these options are rather expensive and might improve your mileage 2-3 mpg, it would be years before you would actually pay for this with the savings on gas. If you really want to save on gas you'd be better off driving almost anything other than an expedition.|||Look for a programmer I鈥檓 sure there are some available for your expedition, programmers offer you a few settings depending on the one you decide on. One of the settings is fuel economy(most programmers) Also look into getting a cold air intake kit and a exhaust system. If both are done right they will improve gas milage as well.|||With car manufacturers attempting to get the best mileage possible out of their vehicles to meet government mandates, I seriously doubt it can be improved on. Engineers have designed it to be the most efficient it can be.

You can improve the performance, but gas mileage will suffer. And IMHO, cold air intake is baloney as are most "performance chips". Most I said. You may get 2 or 3 hp, but no gas mileage improvement.

If you need to save gas, get a smaller car. I did.

How do you remove the rear subwoofer in a 2002 ford explorer sport?

The subwoofer in the back of my 2002 ford explorer sport broke and I cannot get it out of the hole it is in. I removed all of the screws and tried prying it out with a hammer and still cannot get it out. Any ideas on how to remove it? Does it require any factory tools to get it out?|||You're missing one screw: it goes through the back of the subwoofer enclosure and into the center of the sub's back plate. To remove the sub, you need to take off the entire rear side panel and pull the enclosure out so you can get to the back. Stupid design, eh?

I am trying to pull the tranny out of my 1991 ford explorer 4x4 and it is a 5 speed manual and i need instructions on getting the hydraulic line off of the tranny.|||you don't gota remove the whole line to change the tranny. all hydraulic lines screw onto the slave cylinder, usually found on either side of the tranny bell housing(part that bolts onto the engine). A SAE open end wrench or special fluid line tool should be used to unscrew it from the slave cylinder|||push the white sleeve that is on the hose where it connects to the transmission in and pull the hose.

What is the difference between a ford F150 supercrew and a ford F150 supercab?

I would like to buy some cover seats for my Ford F150 supercrew but I only find cover seats for a supercab . I would like to Know if there is difference between these trucks|||The SuperCrew has four full-size forward-opening doors, with a full-size rear bench seat; the Super Cab has rear quarter-doors that open in reverse, with a smaller rear bench seat.

If you are buying seat covers only for the front seats, the difference between a SuperCrew and a Super Cab will not matter, since only the rear seats will be different.

You will want to know, however, if the front seats in your F-150 are bucket seats (more common on FX4, Lariat, Harley, and King Ranch) with the console shifter, or a bench seat with the shifter on the column and a flip down center arm rest/console. This may make a difference when buying front seat covers.|||Supercrew has 4 individual doors. Supercab has rear doors but, they open backwards.

What is the best set of tires for a 2003 ford mustang?

What is the best set of road tires for a 2003 ford Mustang V6 stick shift. I know How slick mustangs can be.|||first off dont go to tire rack. yes tires are cheap but getting a shop to put them on for a cheap price is hard. in the end you'd be saving money buying tires from discount tire. plus you get extended warranties and other free services through discount. anyways, i suggest the khumo ecsta asx. it is on the cheaper side but for the price its a bargain. since you live in virginia and i'm sure it snows quite often and you'll need a tire with some all weather traction. the asx is made with many more sipes than most tires and offers greater wet and icy weather traction thus improving handling and braking. another tire i'd look at that is a bit more pricey but again worth the money is the yokohama yk520. its basically like the khumo but it handles better and last longer. i'm sure when you walk in the door to discount thats one of the first tires they'll recommend for you|||great non answer HH...

I am a teenager looking for a car. My dream car has always been a white ford fusion. I just dont want any problems with it. What are some of the problems you've had and is it a good car for a first time driver?|||Some problems that you might find with a ford fusion is that they last forever and so in the future when you are wanting a newer car, you will not be able to say that your car is falling apart and so you need a new one. The Ford fusion is a great car, safe, reliable, efficient and they handle great. They are a great car for anyone.|||As far as choosing a domestic product is not too bad of a choice.

How much is a replacement keyless entry thing for my ford explorer?

Ours went splat-in other words-lots of pieces! So I guess I should go to a ford dealership to get one. But how much am I going to spend?

It's a 97 explorer.|||Around $75.00 plus programming. Some dealers will do this for no charge but most will charge (about 40-60 bucks I would think).|||Check eBay and local junkyards. The same remote yours uses is used on many other Ford vehicles. A lot of the ones you can buy on eBay come with directions, so you can program it yourself. I've seen a lot of them go for around $20-25.

We programmed our 97 Expedition for an extra key fob because it only had one when we got it. It was rather simple. Put the key in, turn switch forward but don't crank it. Turn it about 10 times. The power locks should go up and down a couple times. At that point, start hitting buttons on the keyless remote, and the antenna inside the vehicle should pick up the signal. Your remote should be set then.

What is the cost of a Ford Taurus Heater core in NY state?

Ford Taurus heater has been having probs in the winter. It gets below zero and it blows warm air, then cold air. Does it pay to just replace the heater core? If the heater core is replaced will the heat work better, or should I not bother? What is the cost of a Ford Heater Core for NY state? How many hours does it take to replace the heater core?|||Always look at cheapest / easiest first when repairing! heater core- basically a small radiator inside your care, behind dash, behind componets, should work, (or it leaks or it is plugged.) Since you have heat sometimes, tells me it works. Like others have said, check antifreeze level in radiator, thermostat (which opens to allow for hot coolant to circulate into radiator.) When was last coolant flush? If 3+ years, have that done with thermostat replacement. $100 or so. Can save your car's aluminum head. Also, maybe your car's radiator fan is coming on, sucking ultra cold air into your radiator, therefore cooling the hot coolant used to heat your car? Some people put a small piece of cardboard on front of radiator in ME. to help radiator keep heat.|||Dosent sound like a heater core. That will work or it wont. More likely something in the temperature control. Anyway - heater cores can be purchased from ebay. It is a simple enough job that takes an hours but a mechanic might tell you "the book says" and then perhaps 2 or 3 hours of labor.|||If it goes hot and then cold, my money is on the thermostat. Change that first, it's a LOT less expensive. Also check the coolant level (in the radiator, not in the overflow tank) as it could be low.

A heater core will cost you about $125 - $150 plus about 2 hours labor for installation but my money is on the thermostat or the coolant level based on what you say.

What year did ford make a truck in Light Blue?

I saw a ford truck in Light Blue one day and i wanted that truck. I was wondering what year it was so i could better my search on it. I know it was not new.|||Unfortunately, light blue and Ford truck is not enough information to answer your question.

Ford made a light blue (kind of a baby or powder blue among other lt. blues) trucks in the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. There was another light blue metallic in the 90's that was called powder blue.

What good exhaust company makes dual mufflers for a 2003 Ford Ranger?

I got a 2003 ford ranger and i wanna make it dual exhaust but most exhaust systems i find for my truck are only one exhaust. I looked and i only got one muffler. I want to know what company makes one for mine or how do i make it a dual?|||The closest you'll get to dual exhaust is dual tips at the rear merging from where the main exhaust pipe runs under the truck on the passenger side. You won't have a true dual due to the fuel tank being on the inside of the chassis rail. I also have a 2003 Ranger. It's a 3.0L RWD Edge model. I'd prefer not to make it true dual because these trucks are not fast to begin with (not even a 4.0L) and after a few hundred dollars worth of exhaust mods it still won't be worth it ( dollar to power gain ratio ). I worked on real dragstrip musclecars and I would only bother with the dual exhaust if the engine saw a significant gain with just dual exhaust alone. These trucks won't see that. Putting dual exhaust just for looks also screams "poser" (i.e. wanna be fast, but aren't) to the keen eye.

How to do an oil change and maintenance a 2003 Ford Explorer yourself?

Looking for a guide on how to do maintenance on a 2003 Ford Explorer V6. I searched for it online and couldn't find one. My vehicle needs a tune up and want to do it myself.|||its very simple but if you want to know how to do maintenance on it, then you should get the book at autozone for $20 it will show you step by step how to do everything, change heads, oil, pumps, take the radiator out. breaks everything down for you so its simple.

to change oil get an oil pan jack some oil flush, oil, oil filter, then drive home put the motor flush in your oil, run it for five minutes, it will remove all the gunk and build of in the oil (dont drive around with motor flush in your oil!) jack it up, let it cool down for a little bit or the oil will burn you, take the plug out of the oil pan, drain it, take off the oil filter, then replace, put the plug back in fill the oil back up and your done.

for other maintenance just buy the book its easier to understand then on here, and there are detailed pictures on whats what.

How do you connect and wire rear shelf speakers into ford fiesta?

I have a '96 ford fiesta which comes with no rear speakers. I want to put some on the parcel shelf, hopefully some 6x9s. I have an upgraded head unit so do i need to buy a seperate amp to power them? How do i wire them up and where would the wires go?|||As long as you only have 2 speakers running off the deck already, you'll be fine running another set without an amp. If, however, you already have 4 speakers running off it, then you will have to pick up a 2 channel to run them.

As far as wiring goes, that comes down to you. You obvisouly have to get the wire from the speakers to the deck, so look around in the vehicle for a path. Usually you run the speaker wire underneath the carpet, by removing all the plastic trim, but you have to be careful because you can easily break the plastic if you pull too forcefully.

Once you have routed it to the rear of the stereo, you will want to find a manual for your specific stereo, and locate whichever two sets of speaker leads are not currently in use (they will usually be the same color). Splice them together and you are good to go.

What years did Ford change their 3 speed transmissions to the 4 speed on the floor?

I have a 292 in my '59 ford and i would like to know if the 3 speed manual on the steering column can be swapped for a later model 4 speed manual transmission or if it's better to just change the engine also.|||That takes me back. When I got out of the hospital after having my tonsils and adenoids removed, my grandfather picked me up in his brand new 1958 Ford. Years later we inherited a 1960 Ford Fairlane (a full size car then) with 292 2-spd automatic from my grandfather's brother. At the time it was 10 years old with only 25,000 miles and my dad said probably never went over 25 mph. But as teen age boys, my brother and I blew the carbon out of it.

From info I could find on 59 Fords "Transmission options were a three speed conventional drive with an overdrive option, Fordomatic Drive two speed automatic, overdrive, and the three speed Cruise-O-Matic Drive automatic."

So I guess it depends if you want to keep it a period car. My brother's 38 Ford coupe had a 4 on the floor, but it also had a built Chevy 350 engine and Ford 9" rear end. The biggest Ford engine in 1959 was a 352 (which we had with Cruise-O-Matic in a 1962 9-passenger Country Squire wagon).|||Granny 4 speed or top loader shouldn't be an issue. Thank you!|||Some cars nowadays have got the number plates just glued on. I dont know what the glue is called, but it would solve your problem. Another alternative are heavy duty sticky pads which are designed to hold on number plates. Your local motorist centre should stock them.

What is the fastest way to accelerate in a manual ford ranger?

I have a 2.3L manual 4cyl 1996 ford ranger xlt regular cab and I wanted to know how to get it up to speed quicker? Keep it in lower gears? Just wondering?|||1. swap out your wheels and tires with light weight components

2. swap out the rear end lube, transmission fluid, and engine oil with true synthetic equivalents

3. swap out the mechanical engine fan with an electric fan - this is a huge performance boost for this vehicle

4. up shift at around 4500 rpm|||Get your rpms up really high before you shift. But don't keep them running really high or you might blow your engine

What is causing the reverse not to work in my ford ranger?

I have a 1996 Ford Ranger, I just fixed an overheating problem but the truck will still not go in reverse and I have to shift from low through the gears to get to drive. When in low gear if I let off the gas the truck slows like it is supposed to. How many miles to the gallon does your 1999 Ford Escort Wagon get to the gallon?

I'm considering the purchase of a used 1999 Ford Escort Wagon 4 Cylinder engine and was wondering what I should expect for fuel economy in this day when local gas prices are averageing $3.05 per gallon of regular.

I have googled this question but turned up mixed answers. Some say 28/38 and others are saying 25/30. Which should I expect from a well running enging of this model?

Please reply from experience.

Thank you.|||Go Here: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymake/Fo鈥?/a> for EPA rating|||It depends on the transmission.

You'd get better millage with a standard trans or (stick shift) or had motion transmission.

Can a ford Explorer pull a horse trailer?

I have '91 Ford Explorer, can it comfortably tow a two horse bummer pull trailer?|||There shouldn't be a problem if the vehicle has been service regularly.|||The age of the vehicle is not the question if it has been properly serviced and maintained over the years. What you need to look at is the towing capacity of your vehicle which should be in the owner's manual. Take into account that many times the quoted towing capacity is with a weight distribution hitch, so you may need to get a weight distribution hitch installed. Then, you need to compare that with the LOADED weight of your trailer. You should be able to get the empty weight of your trailer off of the nameplate of from the owner's manual. Then add the weight of your horses and all your tack and supplies. That total is what you need to compare with the towing capacity.

Finally, you also need to look at the wheel base length of your towing vehicle. It needs to be 114 inches MINIMUM to maintain vehicle stability while towing a trailer. I don't know what the wheel base is on an Explorer, but qualitatively, I'm not sure if it's long enough.

If your tow vehicle meets all of those requirements, then you should be good to go, but you will need to install trailer brakes, heavy duty fuses, wiring harnesses, and a supplemental transmission cooler is a good idea. |||I have an AWD V8 ford explorer and it can pull a 2 horse just fine.....The bigger question is do you have trailer brakes???? It makes all the difference in the world and is a necessity. You should pay the money to have them installed and a control panel set up in your truck. Those brakes will save your butt If you ever have to stop fast...relying on your truck to stop a trailer with 2 horses in it is nuts and you can pop or snap your hitch if you really had to stop hard.....I would never haul anywhere without them.|||I have to agree with Stacie. Sure, your vehicle can pull one. But can it stop? Does it have enough power to prevent the trailer from fish-tailing? Can you go 13% down hill, and still be able to stop safely? Does your vehicle have towing mirrors, so you know when to change lanes?

I would honestly, never tow a horse trailer on anything smaller than a F-250 (or the equivalent with another truck brand). I know it's "over kill" but I'd much rather be safe, then ever be sorry.|||Be sure the transmission and motor are serviced correctly... it should be alright!

We've pulled a two horse bumper pull trailer behind our Explorer and it was OK. Had to be careful pulling hills, and going down hill, but we got there safe and sound... We have Missouri Fox Trotting Horses and could haul two adult horses without too much trouble... it's better to have larger vehicle pull trailer as we've since upgraded to an Expedition!|||Oh Dear... The question you ask is- can it pull one? Yes. Now, the REAL question should be- CAN IT STOP ONE?

Those vehicles are NOT built for the heavy duty use such as pulling horses around. When I'm on the road and see a half ton truck pulling a trailer, I move as FAR AWAY as I possibly can.

The first thing you should think about is tongue weight. A 2 horse steel trailer probably weighs around 3000 pounds empty. Add in mats, tack, and two horses. You are now pushing 5000 pounds. Look at the truck you are using. Can it support 10% of the full weight? Next, you are pulling 5000 pounds, with a vehicle that probably weighs less than that. Now what if you needed to stop quickly? Your trailer has now become a weight that is pushing your truck. (I've experienced this with a 2 horse BP pulled by a Tahoe with a 6500 tow capacity. I thought I was going to die, ending up in the middle of the intersection with dead horses.)

Now get on the freeway. You are going 55mph, and your trailer begins to sway back and forth. The trailer is heavier than your truck, so it now is pulling the truck side to side. Next thing you know, a semi-truck drives by. The wind force is enough to push your little truck some more. How much more before you find yourself in a 15 care pileup?

And I didn't even touch on whether or not you live where there are hills, ice, ect.

Please. Is it that important to risk your own life, and the lives of other people and your horses? Get a bigger truck.

I pull a 3 horse gooseneck aluminum trailer with a 3/4 ton Dodge Diesel quad cab. When I put my horses in the trailer, I want them SAFE. When I'm pulling, I want my kids in the truck SAFE. |||umm yeah it should pull it okay it will be kind hard on the engine but it will pull it is it got a 155 horsepowe v6 it might do it but i wouldnt put all my trust into a 155hp v6 pulling a horse trailer im v8 could do it deff but idk if a 155hp v6 would u also need to factor in if ur breaks are good will it stop it??? and once u stop it will it be able to pull it agian when im towing trailers i either use my 2002 explorer v8 or my f150 i have a 88 bronco but its more for having fun its got a v8 and ik it can do it but shes old so i just leave her be also im proabably one of the few people to own one of these but i have a 2005 ford f650 i use that form almost all of my hauling if not that its the f150 if i aint using the f150 its the explorer all these trucks are good for hauling things ur 1991 should get the job done so well it should be able to stop it just fine as well if u have been taking good care of it|||ON THE BACK OF YOUR EXPLORER DOWN BY THE HITCH, IT TELLS YOU HOW MUCH WEIGHT YOU CAN PULL.....FIND OUT HOW MUCH THE TRAILER WEIGHS WITH THE HORSES IN IT AND GO FROM THERE.......JUST DONT HOOK UP AND GO......YOU COULD HAVE CATASTROPHIC ENDING RESULT..........|||My brother in law has a ford explorer and pulls a two horse bumper pull with it to all of his ropings. |||There is a report of no problem from someone who has one of each.|||i think it can|||Yes it will be fine. As long as its a good runer you wont have any problems! i would tow anything bigger than a two horse. Have fun!
