How much does it cost to replace piston rings on a Ford Focus?

How much does it cost to have piston rings replaced on a Ford Focus? Would it be cheaper to buy the rings myself (if this is possible) and just pay for labour or is it best just to let the garage to do their work?|||Why would you just want to replace the piston rings? By the time the piston rings are worn out the bearings, valves and camshaft are also ready to be replaced or rebuilt. If you have a problem and someone told you that you need to replace the rings I'd suggest you take it some where else and get a second opinion. Before you have any major work done you should get several estimates for the job.|||i'M curious as to know what mileage it's done????|||Dude replacing the piston rings in your engine is not a small job! As a rough guide you will need the following parts:-


Complete set of gaskets 拢150


Timing belt kit 拢100


Piston rings 拢90


Additional to this you may require the following:-


Pistons 拢120


Re-bore 拢100


All this plus the labour to do the work.


If the car is an early model Focus it would be cheaper to replace the engine with either a service exchange engine or an engine from a scrap yard.
