What is the real situation about the Ford Motor Company?

Many articles in mass media describe the situation in the Ford Motor Company as very positive. Ford is developing very fast, sales are growing, and the reputation is on a high level. Do you think this situation is really so or it鈥檚 only mass media picture for customers?

Thanks!|||I think you are mistaken heakel. It was GM who took government loans, and it is GM who is paying its loan payments with its US Government escrow balance.

The real situation about Ford is basically what you described.

As the article states, the selling of Volvo is a main reason Ford is seeing a much larger net income. However, the facts also state much increased sales performance globally, and reduced operations costs. Their vehicles are also receiving higher quality scores.|||apparently Haeckel can't read. That would be GM that said they paid back the loan. It is kind of misleading as they moved money around. Ford never took any government money. That is part of the success they have. They also sold off some parts and are making cars again. They really are doing that good. No media playing here.|||Yes, Ford is looking very good right now, but they cannot let that success go to their heads or they will be back where they were only a few years ago. On another note what the first answerer said is very misleading, GM paid back their loan with money that was given to them by the government, but the government never asked them for repayment of that money. If you were given free money wouldn't you use it? I know I would! Ford has actually received plenty of government cash, but it was not asked of them to repay it. Toyota, Honda, GM they all get plenty of government help on a yearly basis but are not asked to repay it.|||I think Haeckel is confusing Ford w/ GM

(speaking of not getting your facts straight first)

Ford's situation is actually a better than it's competition. Since they never took a loan they don't have to worry about paying anything back. Their sales are up compared to their competition. And they're all set to introduce new models like the Fiesta, the new Focus, and the 2011 Mustang 5.0. So things can only get better for Ford|||The media has a good way of believing what they are told without actually verifying all facts. Ford says it has paid back it's US loans, but in fact they have only paid off a years worth, and the money used to pay off that loan was escrow money. To make matters worse the escrow money was actually US government money!
