Beautiful car.|||Fords first concept model came out in 62 then completely changed for 63 then finally changed a third time and made available to the public in 1964 1/2|||Concept Mustangs started in 1960. A prototype was shown to the public in 1962 - it was a far cry from the final production Mustang - it was a two seater with a mid mounted V4 engine! Lee Iacocca ordered his design team to lengthen the car and add two rear seats. In 1963, the new prototype Mustang was shown to the public at the U.S. Gran Prix at Watkins Glen.


The Mustang as we know it was released on April 17, 1964.
