How many miles do the ford expeditions last for?

I am looking at buying a 1999 Ford Expedition that has 111,000 miles on it. They are only asking for 3995.00 It has been dropped 3 times because the guys hasn't gotten any calls on it. We have a tiny car and need a bigger one because of our growing family. Are they reliable with that many miles? I know to take it to a shop to have it looked at. What other things can I look for?|||I have several customers with 99 Expeditions with the 4.6 and 5.4 engines. One customer had 269k the last time he was in the shop for service. Those engines are very reliable, the trick is proper maintenance. If the previous owner took care of the oil changes every 5k miles and changed the transmission fluid every 30k miles....I would not be scared to buy it. I saw an answer that talked about the ball joints and such - they are right...at about 60k the ball joints are typically bad. You can expect to have to spend some money on the front suspension, just make sure you take it to a mechanic that you trust and tell them you only want to fix those things that are a safety issue. You can spend as much $$ as you want on ANY vehicle over 100k, ask the mechanic to show you (even if you have no idea what you're looking at) what it needs and why it's a safety issue.|||call me if it goes father than 30 feet cuz its a "ford"!!

|||we have one it's a 2000 with a little over 100k miles. we don't even drive that thing anymore. i eats up a lot of gas. the a/c doesn't work anymore. in winter it dies if it idles to long or not driving continuously. my husband says it's the worst thing he's ever bought. he's spend a lot of money of fixing that thing. i would stay away.|||130 or so then you can keep it going but it will cost more and more as ,ball joints, tie rods, transfer case rotors, wheel bearings and even trabsmissions will start to fail.|||I work with fords everyday and the highest ive seen on an expedition is about 190,xxx miles then start to ware down. But the highest they go is about 220,xxx|||pretty reliable trucks with good engines but very bad on gas. 111k isent to bad, I have a 98 explorer with 147k and still runs great.|||It only gets about 11 miles per gal.

That is why it is so cheap

I know engines that only get 30 miles and I know someone who has about 450,000 miles on his engine

i|||stay away theres a reason hes dropped the price!!!!!!!!!!! look for something else!!!!!|||that's a lot of miles even for 4K
